This position will provide technical leadership, subject matter expertise, and analytical support to the US Space Force (USSF) Space Operations Command (SpOC) in the areas of Command, Control, and Communications (C3) and Secure Network implementation for USSF's portfolio of Offensive and Defensive Space Control programs. The candidate should have experience in several of the following areas: Joint Capabilities Integration Development System (JCIDS), TS/SCI/SAP-level IT systems, WAN and LAN architecture, Risk Management Framework (RMF), Communications Security (COMSEC), Space Operations, Ground System Architecture, Mobile communications systems, Long haul communications, Development of test plans, Program acquisition lifecycle.
This position is an on-site position at the Peterson AFB in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This position is not eligible for teleworking.
What You Will Be Doing
  • The candidate will be required to participate in and facilitate design reviews, technical interchange meetings and working groups, working closely with the Program Offices at the Space Systems Command and the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center.
  • Duties include ensuring concepts are technically sound, requirements are properly documented, designs meet specifications, tests procedures adequately prove the operational capability is demonstrated and acceptable and develop/document TS/SCI/SAP level IT system implementation and request processes.
  • The selected candidate will be expected to interact with the Aerospace Engineering and Technology Group (ETG), other program office staff and a wide variety of DOD organizations including HQ USSF, National Space Defense Center (NSDC), the Space RCOs, Space Security and Defense Program (SSDP), USSPACECOM, US Strategic Command, US Cyber Command, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), other functional and regional COCOMs, and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The candidate will also be expected to effectively interface with the Intelligence Community and other government organizations such as the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

What You Will Need To Be Successful
Project Engineer

Minimum Requirements:
  • Be a proactive, fast learner with the willingness and ability to work in a dynamic hi-visibility environment with routine engagement with the most executive levels of government and decision makers.
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
  • Eight or more years of related experience is required.
  • Have 5 or more years of combined experience in Space Control operations, secure communications systems, and project management.
  • Experience in Space Control systems technologies, capabilities, acquisition, and an understanding of space and ground systems development.
  • Excellent full-spectrum communication and interpersonal skills; adept at written and oral communication spanning a wide range of levels of detail and communication media/processes.
  • Ability to travel regularly (4-12 times/year).
  • Current TS/SCI security clearance as issued by the US government, and ability to maintain it. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

Sr. Project Engineer
  • 12 or more years of related experience is required
  • Same requirements as above

How You Can Stand Out
It would impressive if you have one or more of the following:
  • An advanced degree is desirable.
  • A strong technical background in secure communications systems, TS/SCI/SAP level IT systems, space systems operational communications infrastructure, and NSA approved Type One encryption devices.
  • A working knowledge of DOD network architectures, multi-level security, satellite control networks, the Joint Special Access Program Implementation Guide (JSIG), the Risk Management Framework (RMF), and the Joint Capabilities Integration Development System (JCIDS).
  • Joint Theater communications systems experience, and an understanding of general space operations is desirable.
  • Have excellent oral and written communications skills and be comfortable briefing senior military leaders.
  • Current Special Access (SAP) clearances.
