How You Will Contribute:

Blue Planet www.blueplanet.com, the software division of Ciena, provides best-in-class intelligent automation software and niche professional services to help clients modernize their IT and network operations. Driven by policy and AI-based insights, Blue Planet delivers the closed-loop automation tools needed to align IT and networking processes—critical to facilitating digital transformation and an adaptive network.

We are looking for highly motivated and talented software engineers to join Blue Planet platform team, responsible for building performant, reliable, and maintainable platform services and tools in a large, polyglot, distributed environment.

• Develop micro-services and tools that provide common support for scalable and highly available software system.
• Develop DevOps tools to automate deploying micro-services on platform and K8S.
• Work closely with design teams to support their use of the platform to deliver complete solutions to customers.
• Participate in all phases of an agile development cycle – plan, design, implement, review, test, deploy, document, and training.
• Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues.
• Strive to make continuous improvement.
• Collaboration with stakeholders: Working collaboratively with Product Owner, Product Line Management (PLM), Product Verification, development teams, customer support teams, documentation team, etc.
   

The Must Haves:

• Possess 3 to 8 years of experience in Python and its eco-system.
• Good understanding of Computer Science fundamentals, algorithms and design patterns.
• Experience with micro-services and container-based technologies (e.g., Docker).
• Knowledge of CI/CD automated deployment and management of containerized applications tools like Kubernetes(k8s).
• Experience with distributed, highly available, horizontally scalable systems running at large scale. 
• Interest and ability to quickly learn and ramp-up on new languages and technologies.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills

Good to Have

• Database technology including Postgres, Redis, Neo4j etc.
• Knowledge of Apache Spark, basics of AI/ML
• Cloud environment (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OpenStack, etc.)
• Excellent understanding of code versioning tools(git)

Education Qualification:

• Bachelors/master’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience
