Sr. Retail Designer

MERIT is hiring for an experienced Senior Retail Designer to join our growing team (either in Los Angeles or New York.) In this role you will work on all elements that support our business at Sephora and globally – from end cap design and development, to in-store visual changes, to event collateral and signage.  This role will report into the Art Director and will work closely with creative, retail and marketing teams to ensure a holistic in-store experience. This role is both creative and technical, and is an exciting opportunity to join a growing start-up within beauty. 

Responsibilities:

• Conceptualize, design and render our end caps per geography as well as the regular updates throughout the year; includes rendering, dieline work, image selection and copy placement 
• Execute in-store visuals in support of campaigns
• Conceptualize and create in-store collateral for store support 
• Review and proof graphic materials before the product is marked as complete
• Under direction of Art Director, maintain brand esthetic across creative executions
• Stay abreast of competitor creatives, industry trends 
• Present well-developed and strategic creative solutions to meet brand objectives, that are competitive in the beauty industry and help differentiate the brand
• Self-manage multiple projects at once and ensure they are completed in a timely manner

Requirements:

• 5+ years of design experience, with at least 2+ years in retail design. Beauty experience preferred, Sephora retail experience preferred
• High proficiency within Adobe Suite programs
• Eye for visual hierarchy, composition and color, and typography
• Strong attention to detail with exceptional typographical skills
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and work in a fast-paced environment
• Conceptual thinking and technical implementation
• Takes direction and constructive critiques well while also having the ability to work autonomously and provide self-direction when needed
• Previous experience at a fashion or beauty brand preferred
• Previous experience with Sephora in-store graphics a plus
• Experience or an interest in motion graphics and photography are a plus
