Sr. Scientist

Description

Solid Power is seeking a Sr. Scientist to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. The Scientist will be tasked with leading multiple projects related to the synthesis of solid electrolytes and related compounds 

Job Duties

• Lead the development of new sulfide solid electrolyte compositions and performance testing
• Provide technical assistance with the transition of synthesis processes from lab scale to pilot scale
• Perform basic materials characterization as needed to understand the surface and bulk properties of the system under study
• Hands-on laboratory work and collaboration with powder production and quality control teams
• Conform to all safety precautions and protocols
• Maintain thorough and accurate records of all conducted experimentation
• Clean and organize common equipment and lab areas
• Document and follow standard operating procedures as well as assist in drafting or editing procedures during process development

Qualifications/Requirements

• PhD degree in material science, inorganic chemistry, or a related discipline with relevant industrial experience
• Structured problem-solving and analytical skills and strong technical skills in areas related to solid-state chemistry and sulfide-based materials
• Experience with analytical and characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction, FTIR, Raman, EIS, and/or BET
• Hands-on experience designing and executing solid-state syntheses; experience with glovebox use and air-sensitive materials is a plus
• Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving research and development needs
• Highly analytical, detail-oriented mindset with an eye toward practical solutions
• Excellent work ethic and ability to quickly demonstrate independence
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• The candidate must be responsible and self-motivated, with a history of stable employment and performance
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Salary Range: $83,000 - $145,000/year
