Job Title: Sr. Scientist

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Summary of Position:

Alcon is looking to hire a Sr. Scientist within their Engineering Optical department in Fort Worth, TX. A Sr. Scientist within Engineering Optical designs, models, analyzes, and tests optical, electro-optical, and opto-mechanical systems and components, including sensors, lasers, fiber-optics, and telecommunications products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conducts research and development into phases of physical optics and geometric optics, lasers, laser characteristics, laser maintenance, and broadband optical sources.
• Applies research of complex optical systems to achieve desired optical outcomes.
• Develops component specifications, tolerances, simulations and tests procedures for electro-optical systems and components.
• Uses design-to-cost models, six sigma methodology, and other methods to assure and verify optical design requirements are met.

Key Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0 yrs)
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
• Experience in design of optical systems is required
• Understanding of aberration theory, Zernike polynomials and diffractive optics is required.
• Fluency with optical design software such as Zemax, Code V or equivalent is required.
• Fluency with programming language such as Matlab, Python or C++ is required.
• Work hours: Full Time
• Travel Requirements: 10%
