Sr. Scientist/Engineer

Leidos Health and Civil Sector is seeking a Sr. Scientist/Engineer to support an exciting Healthcare program.

Preference for candidates local to the DC Metro area for onsite customer meetings.

Duties:

The candidate will be tasked to support the development and management of new and existing programs and have or be able to obtain a Public Trust.

The ideal candidate will be able to assist, support and provide advice to the Program Manager to further the development and progress of new and existing programs.

Specifically, the candidate will be expected to conduct thorough scientific evaluation of the current R&D landscape to identify gaps in research portfolios to address critical needs that are aligned with the ARPA-H mission, monitor and track performers progress toward established metrics, be able to read and digest complex information, develop briefings for technical and non-technical audiences.

The candidate should have strong logical and critical thinking skills and be able to critically review scientific and technical data. The candidate will be expected to integrate into an existing team to support current ARPA-H efforts and be able to operate independently and in a group environment in support of technical R&D efforts.

The ideal candidate must have strong PowerPoint and Excell skills, which include proficiency with key board shortcuts and ability to create PPT slides and Excel files on the fly during a meeting in a high-pressure environment. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Other tasks include some basic administrative tasks such as collecting, sorting, analyzing, and writing Internal programmatic reports/briefings on relevant topics in a health-related field.

Some CONUS travel is expected (~10-20%) as needed to fully support the Program and Program Manager.

Previous experience with basic and applied research and prior support to Program Managers in an R&D environment, is preferred. The ideal candidate must be flexible to work outside standard business hours to meet deadlines. Professional curiosity, continuous drive for learning, and the ability to focus on assigned tasks are critical attributes of the ideal candidate.

Required Education and Experience:

Candidates must have a PhD and 2+ years of experience or MD degree and 6+ years.

Degrees acceptable: Biomedical engineering, Immunology, Oncology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, Biomedical physics, or related fields.

Requires hands-on/practical experience in at least two of the following areas: nano-or biomaterials, radiation oncology, medical physics, biologics manufacturing, animal tumor model development, imaging, nuclear medicine, pharmacology, toxicology. Experience with industry is a plus, with experience that may include but is not limited to research, CMC, clinical, regulatory, or other relevant roles at biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies, management consulting experience with concentration in Pharma and Biotech.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00
