Sr. Security Engineer

Job Description

The Senior Security Engineer position will support the implementation and administration of information security technologies, runbooks and policies that protect Belk's internal and cloud-based systems and data. This position will partner with internal IT peers and vendors to help in the implementation of security controls and IT best practices. This role will also mentor and train junior level engineers, assist with incident response and attack simulation activities.

The perfect candidate should have experience in multiple security areas and willing to wear a number of different hats.

Job Functions

• Partners with Security Architect and Compliance leads to build and operation security controls that mitigate risk within our environment.
• Participates in one or more of the following security domain activities: Incident Response, alert tuning, threat hunting and analysis. Threat and risk modeling.
• Assist Risk and Security Leads with Security and Risk Program Development.
• Assist with vendor management.
• Mentor and train Security Engineers
• Design, build and run security tools and controls.
• Maintain operational documentation and runbooks for engineering team.
• Delegation of engineering tasks to associate engineers and engineers.
• Partner with Architects and Risk Leads to develop and maintain 2 - 3-year roadmaps

Preferred Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of industry related professional experience, certifications and education.
• 3 - 5 years' experience in Cyber Security.
• 2+ years experience with Crowdstrike or similar modern XDR platform.
• 2+ years experience with Proofpoint or similar anti phishing platform.
• 5+ years experience working in IT in any role.
• 3+ years experience in Incident Response.
• 3+ years experience working in a SOC.
• Identity management, cloud security, and anti-botnet tools are a bonus.

Knowledge & Skills

• 2+ years working experience with Crowdstrike or other modern XDR controls.
• 2+ years working experience with Proofpoint.
• Demonstrated ability to script in either python, Linux shell or PowerShell.
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
