Sr. Signal Engineer - Rail Systems

Job Description:

Parsons is actively seeking a Sr. Signal Engineer to contribute to Existing projects within the LA and San Francisco Area. This is a full time position with benefits.

In this role, you will be responsible for writing proposals, Checking Railway Signal Designs, Designing Signal Circuits, Trouble Shooting PTC ( Positive Train Control) systems which may include reviewing/writing tests documentation/procedures/test and aiding with reports on train control related systems and components, primarily at wayside locations and on-board locomotives and cab railcars. You will work closely with our Signal Engineering Team to coordinate specific test work plans to adhere to various project schedules. Your duties will include monitoring and reporting progress of design activities on projects with our clients of all activities.

We need our engineers to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team oriented environment and who have exceptional communication, analytical and management skills. In this role you will determine methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the objectives. The successful candidate applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline and may serve as a technical consultant in area of specialty for management or the client. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected. This role can be field based, but must reside either in the general LA or San Francisco Bay Area.

Responsibilities:

• 10+ years of rail system experience focusing on signal design
• Proficient in design of signal circuits or equivalent education, experience and aptitude
• Ability and past experience with Railroad Signaling with CAB signals and PTC like systems.
• Must have working knowledge of signaling products and "vital" and "nonvital" circuit concepts
• Technical experience within systems integration and testing in development projects, is required.
• Must have good understanding of HW and SW interactions within complex systems architectures.
• Must have good written and spoken communication skills
• Bachelors degree in engineering

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) and 10+ years of related work experience
Professional Engineer registration is highly preferred , or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire
Potential to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are required
Must possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project
