Sr. Site Reliability Engineer

The Infrastructure Engineering team at iHerb focuses on improving our infrastructure, scalability, performance, reliability, and security of the systems and tools for our technology teams. We provide a wide range of services internally to our teams. Infrastructure Engineering teams comprises Cloud Operations (CloudOps), Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Production Operations (ProdOps).

We are seeking a Sr. SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) Engineer whom is passionate about technology and SRE. This position will work alongside a global team supporting a global multi-cloud infrastructure at scale. Working with high performing SRE Engineers requires a comprehensive understanding of a wide range of technologies, a focus on growing and developing the skills and talents of your team, and a passion for performance, reliability, and SaaS management at scale. 

Sr. SRE Engineer Responsibilities:

• Lead designs of major software components, systems, and features to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of iHerb’s services and platforms.
• Lead the building of software and systems to manage platform instructure and applications.
• Lead sustainable incident response, blameless postmortems, and production improvements of iHerb applications and platforms.
• Provide guidance to other team members on managing end-to-end availability and performance of mission critical applications.
• Building automation to prevent problem recurrence, and building automated responses.
• Mentor and partner with other team members to design techniques and standards, and to cultivate innovation and collaboration across multiple teams.
• Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Provide operational support and engineering for multiple large distributed applications and platforms.
• Participate in operational support on-call rotation.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

• Experience as a SRE Engineer or similar software engineering role
• Experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
• Experience supporting infrastructure and services in *nix and public cloud environments (AWS, GCP, etc.)
• Experience with Kubernetes: provisioning, troubleshooting, managing
• Experience with Terraform or IaaS tools
• Prometheus, Thanos, and Grafana: service catalog metrics and rules for alerts
• Ability to program (structured and/or OO) with one or more high level languages, such as Python, Java, Go
• Systematic problem-solving approach, proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks.
• Strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive.

Preferred:

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required
• 3 - 5 years experience working with AWS or GCP
• 2 - 3 years supporting a kubernetes environment
• E-commerce experience with high-traffic websites is highly desirable
