Sr. Software Development Engineer in Test (Boston, Rochester or Remote)

We are looking for a Sr. Software Development Engineer with a passion for software testing to play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and safety of the software, firmware, and cloud components of our revolutionary medical device, The Heart Seat®. Reporting to our Sr. Director of Software Engineering, the successful candidate will be embedded within our software and firmware development teams. They will be responsible for developing test strategies, driving the selection of test tools and automation frameworks, authoring and executing manual and automated tests, and will actively engage in requirement refinement to ensure tickets are testable and clear. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with our firmware and cloud development teams to ensure high quality software delivery.
  • Lead the creation, maintenance, and execution of test cases, plans, and test suites in support of sprint work and release verification and validation.
  • Develop and maintain automated tests targeted at both the API and UI levels. 
  • Utilize test management tools such as TestRail, Zephyr, Qase or similar for efficient test case management. 
  • Work with JIRA to coordinate work with software engineers, track bugs, and plan and track test case execution.
  • Define, track and report on key quality metrics (ex: find rate, closure rate, decay rate, defect density) 
  • Implement UI automated tests using frameworks such as Selenium or Playrwright.
  • Perform API testing using Postman.
  • Influence tool selection and test case strategy.
  • Drive continuous process improvement within the quality assurance process.
  • Lead and mentor other team members to ensure consistency in the function and act as a team lead and first point of contact.
  • Ensure quality activities align with and support the Casana Quality Management System.
  • Other responsibilities as needed.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience writing and executing test cases, test plans, and maintaining regression test suites
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in writing and maintaining automated tests covering both APIs and UIs 
  • Familiarity with TestRail, Zephyr, or similar test management tools
  • Previous experience using JIRA for issue tracking
  • Previous experience in a regulated industry
  • Proficiency in UI automated frameworks such as Selenium or Playwright 
  • Comfortable using Postman for API testing
  • ASQ certification or similar is preferred but not required
  • Excellent communications skills: written, verbal, and interpersonal
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • The ability to work in a fast paced, multi-functional team
  • Place a high value on quality and attention to detail

Compensation

[$130,000 - $160,000 annually] Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and location. Our compensation consists of base salary and equity as well as a generous benefits package.
