Sr. Software Development Manager, Transportation Management Systems

At Flexport, you’ll develop products that are at the forefront of reshaping the entire logistics & supply chain industries. You’ll work alongside self-starters interested in solving real-world problems and streamlining the inefficiencies in the complex global trade industry. 

The Transportation Management Systems group is responsible for backbone systems that define the state machine of shipments, orchestrate the movement of the shipment across different modes such as Air, Ocean, Trucking, and warehouse and act as authority of shipment data, Flexport Operations Network and Service Levels. 

• Build the next generation of transportation management backbone systems at Flexport that enable Flexport to realize the vision of “the world's most reliable transporter of things”. 
• Architect and design systems that represent the real-world intricacies of freight execution
• Work closely with business partners and product managers to distill complex business problems into elegant technical solutions.
• Develop the roadmap, define success metrics and deliver the roadmap. 
• Operate the complex systems and improve processes to achieve better outcomes for Flexport customers and employees.
• Build and launch product features iteratively.
• Promote growth opportunities for engineers and provide mentorship 
• Gain a deep understanding of the fascinating logistics industry

• At least 8+ years of experience developing software with 3+ years of managing complex teams 
• Experience hiring and building diverse and inclusive teams.
• Experience setting technical vision and roadmap for a team.
• Experience developing distributed systems.
• Track record of ideating, planning, executing and reflecting on multi-year initiatives.
• Experience working in a cross-functional team with product, science, operations, design, and data.
