Groupon, Inc. is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer to join our team in Chicago, IL.

How you'll spend your day:
- Develop, construct and implement the next generation of company products and features for Groupon's web and mobile applications; design high-performance RESTful service-oriented architectures and software that is fast and efficient for millions of users
- Design and implement scalable distributed applications and Big Data pipelines that solve a wide range of business critical use cases
- Design and optimize data modeling for a given business requirement; develop and deploy quality code by abiding to coding principles
- Develop and follow standards and best practices through the lifecycle of the project
- Maintain knowledge of the latest technologies and trends regarding various Cloud technology and infrastructure
- Collaborate with the Data team, Infrastructure Engineers, and Data Scientists to recognize and adopt best practices in data gathering and transforming Big Data;
- Interface directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and own automated end-to-end data engineering solutions
- Up to 100% remote work allowed from anywhere in the U.S.; can live anywhere in the U.S. Co headquarters in Chicago, IL
We're excited about you if you have the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field plus 8 years related experience
- Any level of experience with Lead design and development of the Big Data Analytics Platform by gathering requirements from the various stakeholders and converting it to technical design and implementation using various Big Data technologies like Apache Spark, Mapreduce, Mongodb etc and programming languages like Java, Scala, Python and build and maintain search related product using technologies including Lucene and Elasticsearch
- Any level of experience with Lead the definition of user requirements and convert business definition to technical design by considering various design ideas using Google Sheets, Lucid Charts and Confluence
- Any level of experience with Lead prioritization and resource planning process by implementing agile squads and following through agile ceremonies including Standups, Grooming, Planning, Retros and Demos using industry certified tool JIRA and ensure features work perfectly by adding Automated Test Cases with the help of Test Suites and CICD strategies using Jenkins
- Any level of experience with Utilize technical skills including Spark, Python, Java, Scala, SQL, RESTful APIs and Cloud Services including EMR, Keyspaces, Elasticache, Terraform, Data Lake formation, Redshift and data streaming technologies including Apache Kafka, Kinesis to develop and manage multiple assignments, including large and critical data pipeline projects to assure timely and cost-effective deliveries
- Any level of experience with Define and drive design and development of the cloud data platform using open-source technologies like Apache Sqoop, Apache Ranger and Apache Atlas and various cloud services like Dataproc, GCS, Composer etc and use GitHub to secure versioned codebase
