Sr. Software Engineer

As a Sr Software Engineer on the TRSS team, you will be working on projects that support and extend the full stack of the TRSS solutions suite to deliver global data using advanced search, big data ingestion and analytical processing using tools like MongoDB, Elastic, Docker, and Kafka as well as building leading edge web applications. You will work closely with the other members of the TRSS analytical staff and development to capture customer requirements and design new solutions. This role requires a polyglot engineer who is comfortable with data-intensive systems, backend development, as well as familiarity with data architecture and frontend UI development. You will be working with an extensive codebase, but this role is a great opportunity to engage in new development.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, implement, and deliver specialized TRSS software solutions to our customers and support existing applications.
- Engage with other TRSS staff members to understand user and system requirements, generate ideas and develop documentation
- Demo new software solutions as needed
- You will be able to learn and expand your skill set on the job
- Own your work and be passionate about the success of the customer
Qualifications:
REQUIRED:
- Have a US Government Security Clearance (Tier 5)
- Strong engineering skills with deployed software experience
- Strong written and oral communication of technical subject matters and client requirements
- Proficient in Java
- Experience designing and leveraging RESTful web services and web stack (HTML, CSS, Javascript)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with limited supervision
- Experience working in Agile development environment (JIRA, standups, iteration)
- Possess a strong personal work ethic (self starter, results oriented)
- Ability to operate against dynamic requirements and provide estimation against delivery deadlines
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
PREFERRED:
- Experience with Lucene, Solr or ElasticSearch
- Experience querying and integrating with SQL and NoSQL data stores
- Experience with React (preferred), Angular or Vue
- Experience with Unix/Linux
- Experience writing unit tests and testing production code
- Docker/containerization and associated DevOps (e.g. Kubernetes) experience
- Kafka experience
- AWS experience
- Snowflake (or general data warehousing) experience
- 3-5 years professional experience
- TS Clearance
