Sr. Software Engineer

Advantest Test Solutions (ATS) in Irvine, CA has an immediate need for a Sr. Software Engineer. ATS has an exciting line of massively parallel test systems that support the semiconductor industry around the world. This is a unique opportunity for an engineer with a diverse skill set to work within several engineering disciplines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in C# with experience in hardware control, semiconductor handlers, or robotics.

Essential Duties Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and support C# software for semiconductor handling equipment including user interface (WPF), motor control, and system processing logic.
• Apply appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the software development life cycle.
• Develops end-user documentation in support of application of products.
• May serve as technical liaison for customers, suppliers, application users and other technical and support personnel.
• Assist technicians and field-support in trouble shooting end-user problem reports.
• Willingness to travel is required.
• All other duties as required.

Requirements

Requirements, Education Skills:

• Requires a B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related discipline or its equivalent. Dual degree a plus (EE, ME).
• Should have at least 5 years of software development experience in support of software product development.
• Experience with formal or agile software processes, especially unit testing, able to write requirements, etc.
• 4+ years in .NET programming with strong knowledge of multi-threaded design, TPL, WPF, WCF, MVVM and database development.
• Working knowledge of automation systems, robotics and/or motion control systems would be considered a strong plus.
• Must have strong working knowledge of network and socket programming, including TCP and UDP protocols.
• Experience interfacing to hardware through Modbus, Canbus, serial communications, etc would be considered a plus.
• Must have good debugging skills and be familiar with profiling tools for performance, memory leak detections, deadlock detection, exception handling, etc.
• Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.

• May be required to travel to customer sites for requirements gathering and/or offshore sites for system implementation.
• Able and willing to work on-site in our Irvine, CA location, even during COVID, as we have been deemed essential.
