Sr. Software Engineer

POSITION:  Senior Software Engineer

JOB DUTIES: Code in Go and Python and work with microservices running on Kubernetes. Develop and bring to production new product features. Solve performance problems and architectural challenges. Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve backend software for products. Write and maintain technical documentation. Manage project requirements, deadlines, and qualities. Test and deliver features with high quality and speed. Remote work permitted.

HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday

LOCATION: Mercari, Inc., 3223 Hanover Street, Suite 110, Palo Alto, CA 94304

SALARY: 

The applicable salary range for each role is based on where the applicant lives and is aligned to one of 3 zones according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Our Talent Acquisition team can help answer any questions about location after starting the recruiting process.

Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. 

The expected base salary ranges for this role are below. These ranges may be modified in the future. In addition to base salary, Mercari’s total compensation package includes equity and a full range of physical, financial and well-being benefits. Zone 1: $184,662-$218,500

Zone 2: $184,622-$196,700

Zone 3: $184,662

REQUIREMENTS

Main Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or closely related field of study and three (3) years of experience as a Software Engineer, Engineering Manager, or closely related occupation.

Special Skills: Also requires two (2) years of experience in the following:

• Kubernetes, Istio, and related networking stacks;
• Golang;
• PHP;
• MySQL and Spanner;
• Microservice-based system design; and
• Creating technical documentation.
