Sr. Software Engineer - Cloud Applications

We are seeking a talented software engineer to join our bioinformatics application team that builds and maintains our end-user facing cloud applications and products. This is a unique opportunity for a candidate to make an impact developing software to aid in cutting-edge scientific discovery. The position will work closely with algorithm developers, bioinformaticians and cloud engineers to develop software packages and modules that can be deployed to run within a distributed cloud application framework.  

Qualifications

• advanced Python knowledge and experience
• familiarity with Python threading, concurrency libraries and frameworks
• good knowledge of Python packaging tools and containerization with Docker
• proficiency with client-side JavaScript and basic client-side libraries such as JQuery
• familiarity with major plotting libraries such as Plotly, D3, matplotlib a strong plus
• strong grasp of code structure, modularization and integration concerns
• good understanding of software testing strategies (unit tests, integration testing, etc …) and software lifecycle management
• experience with git and working with pull requests
• experience with workflow authoring tools like CWL a strong plus
• familiarity with numpy and Pandas a strong plus
• experience with AWS a strong plus
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a degree in a related computational field
