Job Description

Senior Software Engineer, Platform - Plex

In support of our ongoing growth, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Plex team, developing next generation platform offerings and helping to improve our current platform. We are running on hybrid cloud, leveraging modern tooling, and building cutting-edge infrastructure as a service offering to expand our platform and skillsets. Sound fun? It does to us too!

Essential Functions:

• Extend the Plex platform by new ideas and concepts to solve business problems.
• Proven software professional with excellent communication and collaboration skills in addition to current, hands-on coding skills.
• Self-motivated and able to solve problems independently and in team settings.
• Coach and mentor other less experienced team members.
• Have a team-centered mindset and work as part of a distributed team across multiple time zones/regions
• Have a focus on software quality

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related area or equivalent years of relevant work experience
• Legal authorization to work in the US is required- we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, not now or in the future, for this job opening.

Preferred Qualifications

• Typically requires 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Demonstrated experience developing and deploying high volume, high transaction based, distributed and redundant cloud applications.
• Strong background developing in .NET technologies (C#); ideally experience with additional languages such as Go, Rust or Java.
• Comfortable writing testable code along with unit, integration, and functional tests.
• Strong understanding of modern distributed architecture for scalable and fast applications.
• Experience with front end (customer facing) web UI development.
• Experience developing HTTP APIs.
• Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Experience and working knowledge of SQL and No-SQL data stores.
• Experience working in agile teams, preferably in a Continuous Delivery model.
• Demonstrated understanding of design patterns, principles, and frameworks.
• Demonstrated understanding of security concepts and best practices.
• Additional experience with any of the following: messaging platforms (RabbitMQ, Kafka, Azure Service Bus, etc), data orchestration tools (Apache NiFi, Apache Airflow, Spark, Databricks), JavaScript frameworks (React), Azure
