The new Data & Analytics Engineering group at Cigna is developing innovative technology to make healthcare simple, transparent, and more affordable. We are seeking highly talented and innovative cloud solution engineers to join us and help modernize the healthcare industry.

This team develops applications that provide Cigna with the analytics to optimize affordability for its members. Our tools analyze historical data to identify insights, forecast trends, and recommend actionable items to improve total medical costs. We are also advancing workflows with embedded insights that leverage machine learning techniques. You will have the opportunity to support the design, development, and deployment of new applications and features that will directly impact Cigna's bottom line, to ultimately provide better and more affordable healthcare. Our team uses a variety of technologies, from big data to the latest web frameworks. You will get to build state-of-the-art technology that is scalable and robust, utilizing cloud infrastructure, and full automation.

Ideal Candidates for this role will possess a high-level working knowledge and experience with the relevant stack (Python, SQL, Angular, AWS, DevOps (Jenkins, Ansible etc.)), preferably within an enterprise environment. Ideal candidates will be able to translate business needs and processes into solid technical requirements, speak to applicable patterns that will best achieve desired functionality, and be able to continuously deliver value and new features to our user base. They would demonstrate solid individual performance in a team environment, mentor less experienced developers, and participate in leadership strategy discussions that impact the health and roadmap of our web application suite. They should approach problems in a self-directed and inventive manner and engage in ego-less and productive retrospectives and discussions with a mentality of inclusiveness, respect, experimentation, and improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with Operations business partners and Strategic Analytics colleagues to evaluate complex user-requests/projects.
  • Works to develop skills, self-motivated, provides feedback to others, and oversees resolution technical issues and complexities.
  • Ensure that all functionality is comprehensively tested in an automated way (regression, performance, compliance) before rollout to production.
  • Collaborate with Developers to deliver products aligned with recommended architectural/design patterns and identify and evaluate new patterns as they emerge.
  • Ensures defects are quickly assessed and/or mitigated and resolved, whether in non-production or production.
  • Help to solidify objectives and functional requirements for new or enhanced application capabilities.
  • Help to determine/estimate feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current system.
  • Prepare project documentation when needed and review code work for accuracy and functionality.
  • Mentor less experienced developers.
  • Participate in off-hours releases when necessary to ensure smooth deployments of new functionality, while working towards reducing the necessity of off-hours participation.

REQUIREMENTS
  • 7+ years of work experience in programming / software development.
  • 5+ years' experience with Python.
  • 5+ years of full stack including front-end app experience, with at least 1 of those years being with Angular and TypeScript.
  • Tableau or other data visualization framework experience is a plus.
  • Cypress or other testing automation framework experience is a plus.
  • Experience in deploy using CICD, run and manage applications in AWS is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency creating and implementing API endpoints.
  • Experienced with writing efficient and optimized SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Experienced in data schema best practices, preferably with applicable experience with PostgreSQL
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred or the equivalent in education and experience
  • Thorough knowledge of programming concepts, design, procedures and practices.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn, preferably a strong desire to learn.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, and a proven history of solving complex problems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and meet multiple project deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and make independent decisions.
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented, but able to keep a big-picture perspective, applying details at the appropriate point in an iterative project.
  • Strong customer service focus.

  • Familiarity with the Health Care Industry a plus.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 115,100 - 191,800 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
