Position Description

As a Senior Software Engineer focused on security for Rockwell Automation products, you will have the opportunity to design and develop industry-leading commercial software known for its innovation and usability. With an emphasis on security, this position focuses on ensuring product software is developed employing best practices for secure design and coding.

A primary responsibility of this position is to design, implement, and test timely security-related software features and solutions for our customers while playing an active role in all aspects of an agile development. This position will allow you to collaborate with multiple global cross-functional teams.

Essential Functions

• Works closely with our Customer Response Team to provide timely software solutions for our customers
• Determines the origin and root cause of identified anomalies
• Identifies and documents requirements for a feature and its components
• Participates in design and development of security functionality that resides within the product
• Develops and executes thorough unit and integration tests
• Leads or participates in reviews of documents, designs, code, test cases and user documentation
• Takes the lead on identifying and recommending software development capability improvements in the areas of security, software development practices, and development tools
• Thinks outside the box and is willing to research and explore new avenues to overcome obstacles by utilizing the latest technologies and standards
• Clearly communicates and conveys design concepts, both verbally and in writing
• Able to learn and understand complex control system concepts

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Typically requires a minimum of two years of experience in a software product development environment
• Proven application of C++, C#, or other relevant programming languages
• Proven application of data structures and algorithms
• Able to apply basic knowledge of object-oriented designs
• Basic understanding of design patterns
• Experience working in an Agile development setting and Agile project tools
• Basic understanding of architecting modular software
• Able to apply basic knowledge of automated test tools
• Understanding of basic software vulnerabilities and mitigations
• Familiarity with cryptography and security protocols
• Maintains a strong knowledge of secure development practices
• Desire to learn and keep up to date with latest security technologies and threats
• Familiarity with and ability to provide guidance to teams during threat modeling exercises
• One or more security certifications
• Experience in large, scalable distributed systems and/or SaaS solutions
• Software development on Cloud and Mobile platforms
• Direct experience applying security to web technologies as a developer
• Proficiency in languages/frameworks such as TypeScript, Node.js, Angular, GraphQL, Kotlin
• Direct experience with the Industrial Automation industry
• Desire to learn and keep up to date with latest security technologies and threats
• Direct experience collaborating with local and global technical development teams
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
