Sr. Solutions Engineer

We're looking for an experienced delivery engineer who is ready to take the next step in broader solutions design. You will be responsible for developing key components of high priority enterprise initiatives, while also leading the design of other components to be developed by junior engineers. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, including business leaders, project managers, other developers, and infrastructure teams, to contribute to the design of scalable, resilient, secure, and efficient solutions.

In this role, you will:

• Develop key components for high profile engineering efforts
• Create prototypes demonstrating best practices
• Participate in solution design and collaborate with Chubb's Enterprise architecture team to implement best patterns & designs
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand and document solution requirements
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews and peer reviews to ensure conformance to proposed designs, integration patterns, security patterns and general best practices
• Work on mix of brownfield and greenfield application and accelerate the DevSecOps adoption and shift-left development strategy, working with enterprise DevSecOps team
• Involve and/or dive deep in Azure cloud modernization initiative leveraging modern technologies
• Help set the technical direction on specific projects by delivering code and/or designs that account for technology modernization in a practical and iterative way. Seek guidance or make balanced decisions that account for time-to-market, reduction of technical debt, supportability, and business needs
• Identify and assess technical risks associated with solution design and implementation
• Conduct technical reviews and provide feedback to junior developers to ensure the quality and scalability of the implemented solutions
• Help research and prototype emerging technologies that advance digital transformation
• Ensure compliance with Chubb technology platforms roadmap and architectural principles

Location:

This role will be based out Jersey City or Whitehouse Station in NJ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
• At least 8 years of experience in software development and/or application architecture
• Past experience with hands-on coding in a modern programming language (e.g. Java, Python, etc.) and Springboot, microservices, REST, SOAP Services etc.
• Strong relational and non-relational database knowledge
• Strong cloud (Azure preferred) experience in multiple areas from API Management, Kubernetes containers, Cosmos DB, App service, Azure functions, Redis cache etc.
• At least 1 year of DevOps/DevSecOps experience & familiarity with Jenkins/similar tools
• Experienced working across SDLC, Agile methodologies
• Team player with strong communication, problem solving, analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills
• P&C Insurance or Financial Services domain background a plus
• Cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP) certification a plus
• Familiarity with messaging platforms such as Kafka/IBM MQ, etc.
• Familiarity with source control tools such as Github, etc.

In Jersey City, NJ the pay range for the role is $101,000 to $172,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
