Sr. Staff Engineer, API Gateway

Netskope API Gateway team provides our customers with secure, high performance access to Netskope APIs through a single, unified gateway. 

What’s in it for you

As a member of the API Gateway team, you will have a highly visible role where you will be involved in the expansion of Netskope’s new REST API platform and its capabilities. You will be developing API gateway layer applications as well as collaborating with multiple teams across the organization. You will work closely with specialized teams in Machine Learning, Threat Analysis, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), and more, leveraging cutting-edge technologies.

What you will be doing

• Designing and developing plugins and applications for our highly scalable, high-volume, low-latency, multi-tenant API gateway.
• Participating in developing our next-generation full stack solutions while investigating alternative technologies.
• Taking ownership of projects and collaborating with cross-functional product management, development and quality assurance teams in a fast paced environment. 
• Working with DevOps and Technical Support teams to investigate and resolve critical issues.
• Keeping abreast of the latest technologies and web methodologies, and driving the respective evolution of our products and development efforts.

Required skills and experience

• 10+ years of industry experience developing large scale web based enterprise applications.
• Expertise with RESTful API design and development, HTTP concepts, API security.
• Expertise building highly performant microservices.
• Expertise with strongly-typed compiled languages such as Go / Java / Swift.
• Experience in Nginx setup and configuration. Bonus points for Kong, Tyk or other API gateway frameworks.
• Experience in Typescript, Javascript and NodeJS. Bonus points for Lua.
• Proficiency with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL.
• Proficiency with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis, or Memcached.
• Experience with containerization and container orchestration such as Docker, Kubernetes.
• Experience with Jenkins, CircleCI, or Travis CI to develop and troubleshoot CICD pipelines.
• Knowledge of secure web development practices.
• Working knowledge of git or other version control tools.
• Bonus points for
• Experience with authentication standards (OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, etc.)
• Experience with cloud computing platforms and concepts such as IaaS, PaaS, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud 
• Knowledge of API management concepts

Education

• BSCS or equivalent required, MSCS or equivalent strongly preferred
