Sr. Staff Software Engineer - Marketing Technology

The Marketing Technology (MarTech) team is responsible for providing a state-of-the-art platform to enable effective marketing and product engagement with our customers. Our platform reaches millions of Airbnb guests and hosts daily through various channels including onsite pages emails push notifications and external ad platforms like SEM on google.

The Difference You Will Make:

As part of the technical leadership team you will be responsible for driving technical strategy alignment architecture and execution for Marketing Technology’s unique problem space. Although this role is one of the highest levels of seniority at Airbnb all Software Engineers at Airbnb are expected to be hands-on and contribute code and be involved in the architecture / design.

A Typical Day:

• Be part of marketing technology leadership team

• Architect and build reliable and scalable solutions to enable no code content management system.

• Advisory to marketing technology leadership team on technical direction of the organization

• Understand how key technical decisions will drive business outcomes and deliver frameworks and platforms that improve delivery with high-quality to those outcomes.

• Understand and uplevel frontend architecture and quality at Airbnb

• Partner with senior leaders across the broader technical organization at Airbnb to ensure we are building the right solutions.

• Work with cross functional partners including product managers designers and marketing managers to understand requirements and explore potential solutions.

• Perform architecture and code reviews mentor staff engineers to uplevel talent at Airbnb

Your Expertise:

• 12+ years of web development experience ideally building leading and architecting frontend products and systems at enterprise scale with a great impact

• Technical leadership: hands on experience leading platform teams setting frontend technical direction and strategy at a company level and working cross functionally with product design and engineering teams

• Experience supporting and advocating large organization of 100+ engineers

• Extensive experience with frontend architecture and hands on experience with HTML CSS Typescript and React

• Strong communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical partners.

• Ability to influence non-technical partners such as design product managers and the business stakeholders to develop a unified approach to content platform infrastructure

• Good understanding of cross-platform client similarities and differences to advocate for or against UX patterns and/or technology choices.

• Awareness of cross-browser compatibility issues and client-side performance considerations

• Deep understanding of FE architecture to advocate for or against UX patterns and/or technology choices.

• Deep understanding of rendering and client-side performance considerations

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites as agreed to with your manager.
