Job Description

The Sustaining Engineer will lead product improvement initiatives, provide technical expertise to manufacturing, and support troubleshooting and root cause corrective action activities for product issues in the field. Daily tasks will focus on supporting and resolving product inquiries and performance issues as reported by various customers. Additional responsibilities include trouble shooting of products at both the component and assembly levels. This individual is expected to provide technical support to the operations personnel, new product development team, procurement group and customers as required. In addition, the candidate must be comfortable in an agile environment and possess strong problem-solving skills, along with the ability to prioritize and manage numerous projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership, cross functional team members (Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Quality) as well as external suppliers. (Domestic and offshore)
  • Work in cross-functional teams comprised of Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality and Business Unit resources to support the planning and implementation of sustaining engineering projects and activities and to translate design requirements into component, subsystem and product specifications
  • Understand product/component function, reliability and quality requirements
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure sustaining and/or cost improvement initiatives meet all design reliability requirements
  • Complete tasks to meet design and project objectives
  • Responsible for several small to medium scale sustaining projects concurrently, with the ability to handle small projects from start to completion and assist with larger projects
  • Will facilitate sustaining engineering projects with focus supporting qualification activities, analyzing impacts to design specifications, and project schedule effectiveness.
  • Provide technical support to team members and other cross-functional groups

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree, Mechanical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related field with 5+ years experience
  • Familiarity with the Product Design concepts and methods
  • Self-starter with ability to learn quickly, good communication skills and team working experience
  • Experience working in a team environment with cross functional support groups
  • Proficiency with Microsoft; Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with ERP and CAD technology
  • Organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with diverse audiences including cross functional team members, senior leaders, global suppliers, and external customers including service managers and technicians
  • Understands the fundamentals and has experience with elastomers, plastic and metal products
  • Understanding of model-based design processes

Hiring Range: $70,200.00 - $110,330.00
