Sr. Systems Engineer

Job Summary

The Sr. Systems Engineer will define and perform lifecycle maintenance plans for production systems software and related equipment.  This will also provide daily administration and oversight of enterprise systems related equipment.  In addition, this role will work with Project Managers to develop project scopes, estimates, milestones, and timelines.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Participate on project teams for large IT infrastructure initiatives and periodically take a project lead role
• Define and perform lifecycle maintenance plans for production software and related equipment
• Act as a customer liaison for day-to-day support activities
• Participate in planned monthly IT maintenance events (ex, patching)
• Work with Project Managers to develop project scopes, estimates, milestones, and timelines
• Act as technical escalation point for complex support issues
• Provide daily administration and oversight of enterprise systems related equipment
• Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve network problems, performance issues, and network circuit performance
• Act as a technical consultant on projects assigned
• Research, identify, and evaluate new products, equipment, and services to support IT efficiency and business growth
• Interact and coordinate with vendors, suppliers, distributors, and contract consultants
• Provide technical assistance and mentoring to team members to increase skill set and understanding
• Maintain a good working knowledge of the current industry standard for enterprise operating systems, directory services, storage systems, backup systems and elated cloud-based configurations and settings
• Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines

Experience & Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred emphasis in Computer Science or MIS) or equivalent experience
• 4-7 years of experience in Systems Administration and Engineering
• Experience with systems related scripting and programming (Powershell, etc)
• Experience with SOA applications and cloud-based services, preferably AWS or Azure
• Thorough knowledge of directory services
• Thorough knowledge of enterprise operating systems
• Thorough knowledge of troubleshooting enterprise systems related issues
• Knowledge of ITIL and Industry best practices

Preferred Requirements

• Experience working within an IT organization in the financial services industry
• Working knowledge of infrastructure as code, automated scripting practices, CI/CD, DevSecOps practice
• Cloud-based Certifications
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Azure best practices
• Disaster Recovery and BCP experience
• Experience in distributed data center model
• Experience with automated monitoring tools
• Experience with collaboration software
