About the Role

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be working with colleagues from Elsevier's Technology organization. Working collaboratively, you'll be delivering shared solutions for infrastructure operations across our HESI Product. As a natural innovator, you'll consistently look at ways to automate, optimize, increase availability, and migrate to cloud services.

Responsibilities
  • Provide input to project plans, schedules, and methodology in the operation and maintenance of multiple system environments
  • Respond to system management alerts to handle system/operations exceptions, within the assigned enterprise systems of product offerings
  • Take ownership for triage change management support
  • Diagnose complex system and performance problems, and recommend or configure solutions


Requirements
  • Understand continuous integration and deployment
  • Solid experience with cloud provisioning tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation
  • Demonstrate understanding of system dump contents, system control block structures, all characteristics/features of hardware being used, and system performance
  • Understanding of storage systems and Windows Server 2016
  • Have knowledge of program installation and troubleshooting
  • Have an understanding of virtual server environments and thin clients
  • Have experience in working with scripts for automation
  • Have advanced understanding of system and problem management tools, and knowledge of system recovery procedures
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate good relationship building skills
  • Have solid organization, planning and change management skills
  • Have a thorough and investigative approach to proactively identifying and solving complex problems
  • Experience with AWS SDK for .NET a plus
