A DAY IN THE LIFE:

Our ideal candidate has deep experience in mobile app design and development. They can take high-level business and product strategy and translate it into detailed mobile app solutions. They're equally versed in thinking through UX design and software engineering considerations, but they work cross-functionally, leveraging the team's collective skills and knowledge to produce the best solutions, and can align operators and stakeholders around a vision. They build relationships, are clear communicators, and take pride in maintaining an organized backlog of work that's ready for engineers to hit the ground running. Finally, they have experience shipping solutions to customers, and building and monitoring feedback loops for learning and iteration.

At Tandem, we focus on enhancing and transforming the lives of people living with diabetes. Our core product is the t:slim X2 insulin pump, and we recently launched our first screenless pump, Tandem Mobi, with more pumps on the horizon. These pumps connect to our mobile apps for data and control, and with Mobi, the app is the center of the patient experience. We're looking for someone excited to take Tandem's mobile app experiences to the next level, delighting, supporting, and caring for our customers through innovative, mobile experiences on par with the best consumer mobile apps on the market.

As a Sr. Sr. Technical Product Owner II on the Mobile team, your responsibility is to lead cross-functional teams in the design, development, and delivery of updates to our mobile apps, ensuring that solutions we bring to market are aligned with our high-level product direction and roadmap, and meet or exceed our user and business needs.

  • Owns and steers multiple complex initiatives, transitioning them from high-level planning to detailed execution.
  • Builds a relationship with Product Management to deeply understand their goals and serves as their primary technical partner.
  • Coordinates the generation of high-level estimates, breaking major initiatives into smaller projects, and partnering with Engineering, QA and Project Management to draft potential schedules.
  • Defines the roadmap of upcoming mobile app releases, ensuring alignment with Tandem's business goals and needs.
  • Collaborates with Engineering and Scrum Masters to plan sprints, ensuring alignment with the release calendar and overarching business objectives.
  • Partners closely with UX Design to create intuitive user experiences that satisfy both our user and business needs.
  • Proactively drives the planning and execution of new mobile app features in collaboration with the feature team.
  • Aligns feature plans with a range of stakeholders including, but not limited to, Product Management, Quality, and senior leadership.
  • Manages the contents of the backlog in Jira, ensuring tasks are organized, clearly communicated, and prioritized effectively.
  • Attends all scrum ceremonies, serving as the Agile Product Owner.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for initiatives and features under your purview, providing timely answers to questions and maintaining open communication to ensure clarity for the working team.
  • Develops a deep understanding of Tandem's mobile products, as well as the broader product portfolio, equipping yourself with the necessary context to make informed mobile product decisions.

  • Ability to organize and manage work in Jira.
  • Understanding of software engineering and mobile app development.
  • Understanding of Agile/scrum methodology.

EXTRA AWESOME:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience in a related role (Product Manager, Product Owner, Founder, Software Engineer, etc.) defining product solutions for consumer-facing software
  • 4 years of experience in mobile apps
  • 4 years leading cross-functional teams
  • 3 years in an Agile/scrum environment
  • Experience with software engineering, either as a software developer, or through educational background

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The starting base pay range for this position is $146,000 - $170,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate's location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.

Tandem offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and flexible saving accounts. You'll also receive 11 paid holidays per year, a minimum of 20 days of paid time off (starting in year 1) and have access to a 401k plan with company match. Learn more about Tandem's benefits here!
