JOB DESCRIPTION

Vertafore is looking for a responsible Senior Technical Program Manager within the Development Program Management Office to develop and maintain complex technical plans, which outline a project or program's tasks, milestone dates, status, and allocation of resources to stakeholders.

Senior Technical Program Manager responsibilities include leading and managing projects related to cybersecurity and compliance. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and executive leadership to ensure the successful delivery of secure and compliant solutions. In addition, you will be tasked with creating, implementing, and maintaining technical project and program plans; including designating resources, monitoring progress, and keeping stakeholders informed the entire way. To succeed in this role, you should have excellent time management and communication skills, as you'll collaborate with leadership and internal teams to deliver results on deadlines.

Ultimately, the Senior Technical Program Manager's duties are to ensure that all projects and programs are completed on time, within budget and meet high quality standards.

Core Requirements and Responsibilities:

Essential job functions included but are not limited to the following:

· Lead and oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects within the PMO, with a focus on cybersecurity and compliance.

· Drive cross-functional projects/programs

· Determine, prioritize, and define project/program technical scope, objectives, and resources with stakeholders

· Develop and manage a detailed project/program schedule and work plan

· Continuously monitor progress and make adjustments as needed

· Anticipate problems and complications, and formulate solutions so as not to impede the progress of projects.

· Actively seek out ways to improve and modernize the implementation process and operations; providing recommendations for modifying processes and methodologies.

· Act as the point of contact and communicate status to all team members and stakeholders

· Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, plans and reports to identify areas of improvement

· Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project and program execution

· Collaborate with the product and engineering teams on current and future projects

· Collaborate with the agile team that is responsible for planning and executing Program Increments within the Scaled Agile Framework

· Drive effective collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across all functional business areas

· Mentor junior team members as needed

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Excellent understanding of the software development lifecycle

· Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices

· Ability to break large tasks into manageable pieces and identify and track dependencies

· Solid organizational skills, results driven, and attention to detail

· Ability to manage multiple high priority projects and deadline at the same time

· Demonstrated ability to influence and develop productive working relationships that lead to successful product delivery, across all teams and stakeholders

· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals

· Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization, especially executive leadership

· Strong ability to keep a group on-track by setting clear goals and expected outcomes

· Self-Motivated, self-directed, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

· Experience in working with regulatory bodies or external auditors.

· Strong knowledge and understanding of cybersecurity principles, frameworks, and best practices.

· Ability to find efficiencies while keeping budget and scope within expectations

· Strong ability to effectively manage expectations of senior leadership

· Proficient in Smartsheets

 

Qualifications:

· 8+ years of technical project/program management with a proven track record of delivering successful cross-functional projects, specifically in a technology-oriented organization

· 5 years of experience in technical program management, with a focus on cybersecurity and compliance projects.

· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar technical field preferred or relevant work experience

· Proven experience leading and managing complex projects with a cybersecurity and compliance focus, including planning, execution, and post-project activities.

· Insurance industry knowledge is a plus

· PMP certification preferred

· Experience with Scaled Agile software development

· Travel required up to 10% of the time

· Located and working from an office location

· Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds

· Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements required to operate a computer

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision (working on a computer, etc.)
