Sr. Test Engineer

AvantGarde, LLC (AG) seeks to engage a Senior Test Engineer who supports the AG client on site at the Department of Justice (DOJ), Executive Office for United States Attorneys, leading the team of software test engineers supporting multiple software development and maintenance projects simultaneously in an Agile development environment. The Senior Test Engineer prioritizes work for the Test Engineers, executes test plans, creates test reports, and conducts root- cause analysis. The Senior Test Engineer reports to the AG Project Manager.

AG offers a comprehensive benefit package including a monthly commuter benefit as well as immediate 401k and medical enrollment. This is a full time, 40 hours per week position. Work will be performed on a hybrid schedule at the client site in Washington DC.

The WORK

• Employs system analysis techniques that translate system requirements into test cases/scenarios.
• Develops test cases using Zephyr in Jira or other tool as provided by the customer.
• Participates in daily scrum reviews with all team members to report progress, blockers, and open action items.
• Evaluates software applications for 508 accessibility using ANDI or other tool provided by the customer.
• Demonstrates a thorough grasp of the principles, theories, and concepts of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile design and development processes.
• Performs verification of system capabilities and system enhancements or changes, requirements verification, functional testing, regression testing, system testing, user acceptance testing, and automated testing.
• Demonstrates the ability to generate problem and change reports using Jira; communicates orally and in writing with the Project Manager, Senior Test Engineer, software developers, and Requirements Analyst to ensure the corrective actions for problems and change reports perform correctly.
• Participates in peer reviews of test cases and automated test scripts as both an author and a reviewer.
• Mentors Test Engineers with less experience while leading the test team.

Skills & Requirements

The REQUIREMENTS

• A BS or MS degree in computer science or a related field.
• Minimum of eight years of software testing experience.
• Ability to travel client sites in Washington, DC.
• Experience in developing automated testing scripts that employ Java and JQuery using tools provided by the customer.
• Familiar with using Eclipse Platform for automated testing.
• Familiar with SQL and creating SQL scripts.
• Familiar with 508 Testing and Compliance tool ANDI.
• Works independently to ensure full test coverage of the assigned test subset.
• Provides status to the Project Manager on all test activities.
• Must be willing to work with a full-time on-site hybrid schedule. in Downtown DC. Remote support is currently permitted as a result of the COVID pandemic; however remote work may be limited by the customer in the future.
• Must be able to report for work M-F, 5 days a week. Alternative flex schedule allowed within normal work hours (i.e., between the hours of 7 am - 6 pm).
• Able to obtain a federal security clearance; active or recent federal security clearance preferred.
