Sr. Test Engineer - Actuation

We seek a Senior Test Engineer with demonstrated experience testing electro-mechanical actuators throughout the full product life cycle. In this role, you will work closely with our engineering team to perform unit testing of our custom actuator line to verify designs and inform design improvement and maturation. This role will be responsible for developing, planning, and executing actuation tests.  

Responsibilities 

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary engineering team to mature actuation product line 
• Develop, implement, and execute test plans for robotic systems with an emphasis on electromechanical robotic actuators and servo drives  
• Work closely with design engineers to create verification test plans across a maturing actuator product lifecycle, to include: initial prototype(s), EVT, DVT, and PVT stages 
• Design and fabricate test fixtures and equipment for validating various electromechanical robotics subsystems to meet testing objectives 
• Identify, collect, analyze, and manage various types of test data to minimize failures and improve system performance  
• Create methods for capturing test data and write test reports 
• Update and maintain test documentation and troubleshooting analysis manual 
• Participate in root cause analysis of failures and product deviations to inform design improvements 
• Provide planning and status information to project manager  
• Efficiently communicate with project managers and team members     

Requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or similar, preferred  
• 2+ years of experience in physical testing and analysis of mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems 
• 1+ years of experience with testing electric motors or electromechanical actuators 
• 1+ years of experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing 
• Working understanding of servo control (torque, speed, and position control) 
• Experience creating and executing design verification test plans, to include test method(s) identification, instrumentation design, and data reduction 
• Ability to design and fabricate test setups for actuator testing and validation. Basic fabrication, machining, wiring, general electronics, debugging, and parts lists. 
• CAD (Onshape, SolidWorks, etc.) 
• Experience with test scripting frameworks for automated data acquisition and processing 

Nice to Haves 

• Experience in robotics or mechatronics industry 
• Experience working with C++ in a Linux development environment 
• Experience working in a fast-paced, startup environment 
• Experience with Functional Safety testing (IEC 61800-5-2, SIL-3, Cat4 PL-e or similar)
