Staff Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This hybrid role will be based out of our Minneapolis, MN office. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for working with various accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Here is what we need our Staff Accountant to do:
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Ability to review accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoices, expense reports, and payments for accuracy.
- Ability to review accounts receivable invoices and receipts postings for accuracy.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Assist in preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Perform variance analysis and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Prepare and file sales tax returns and other regulatory filings.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as assigned.
What education and skills does our Staff Accountant need?
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA a plus
- One - three years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software.
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks) a plus.
- Skills in SQL and PowerBI a plus.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
