SCOPE OF ROLE:

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Manages the purchasing and invoicing system.
• Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
• Maintains the general ledger by coding invoices, setting up new accounts, reconciling accounts, and closes the monthly books.
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, bank accounts, and verifies deposits on UK accounts.
• Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
• Provides auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
• Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
• Work effectively with team members at all levels of the company in a positive, professional manner.
• Performs other related duties assigned by Accounting Manager.

MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:

• Meet Monthly monthly/quarterly/annual deadlines with 5 instances or less of rework.
• Achieve zero SOX recordables in the first year
• Participate in cross functional projects and Daily Management to gain an understanding of the business and current environment
• Assist teams across the company to submit Capital Appropriation Requests
• Update policies and procedures as processes change
• Coordinate and implement efficiencies within the department within the first year
• Be able to train others in the function, and communicate practices and procedures to cross functional stakeholders

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENCIES:

• Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or a similar discipline required
• 3-5 years of related experience required
• Advanced computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Adobe, and Power BI; JD Edwards (or similar ERP system) desirable
• Knowledge of general financial accounting
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to SOX and generally accepted accounting principles
• Organized, flexible and easily adaptable to changing conditions
• Articulates with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to think creatively, highly driven, and self-motivated
• Ability to prioritize tasks and projects while being able to multi-task when necessary
