Job Description
We are looking for an ambitious Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting functions for our team. You will be responsible for reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining the general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures, monitoring monthly expenses, and providing additional support to our team as needed.
Key Objectives
Objective #1: Own our payments and A/P accounting function
- Enter all bills, obtain necessary approvals for payments, review and setup new vendors
- T&E reporting and disbursement
- Review payroll transactions for proper recording from the HRIS and assist with payroll tax reconciliations as needed
- Reviewing transactions and coding including preparation and posting of journal entries, including accrual and expense journal entries
- Reconciling bank statements, credit cards, and prepaid expenses on a monthly basis
- Performing other detailed account reconciliations as assigned for month-end close
- Identify and propose enhancements and improvements to areas of responsibility and financial applications
- Prepare well-supported accounting records in accordance with policies and procedures
Objective #2: Support our overall accounting department and team
- Help produce robust financial statements for internal and external reporting requirements
- Support the annual external audit process by preparing schedules and footnotes and working with others to ensure quality control on audit deliverables
- Performing special projects as requested
- Backup other accounting functions as necessary
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; and 2-3 years minimum GL accounting experience
- Accounts Payable experience is preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Ability to prioritize and manage multi-tasks simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
- Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational/communication skills
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and confidentiality
- Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ingenuity with the ability to effectively achieve organizational established goals and objectives
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer service and collaborative team environment
- Eagerness to learn and take on any tasks assigned
- Impeccable ethics with a history of maintaining total confidentiality and discretion of all employee information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel
