Staff Accountant

Position Description

Zayo is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the accounting group to handle a broad range of accounting functions including month-end close, journal entry preparation and entry, account reconciliations, variance analysis, monthly accruals, and amortization schedules.

*We're open to this position working in a hybrid capacity - typically working 2 days/week in office and 3 days/week from home.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and create journal entries that include cash and expense accruals.

• Assist with month end close duties including variance analysis and accrual calculations

• General ledger data summary and variance analysis using financial reports

• Balance sheet reconciliations

• Partner with FP&A for both internal and external reporting

• Variance analysis, reporting monthly results to management and working with AP/AR function to ensure accuracy

• Support Accounting manager on projects, process improvements and workflow documentations

• A team-player with a positive attitude and ability to work with tight deadlines

• A self-motivator with a focus on continuous process improvement and developing efficient ways to support the business

• Other ad hoc projects as necessary

Qualifications

• Bachelors’ degree in Accounting

• 3+ years of accounting experience in a professional setting

• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Exceptional knowledge and proficiency in Excel

• Experience working with Oracle and SalesForce, a plus

• Experience in the telecommunications industry, a plus

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Organized with the ability to manage priorities on a deadline

• Excellent analytical, judgment, and decision-making skills with the ability to adapt to change

• Strong sense of teamwork 

• Ability to manage a high-volume workload efficiently and effectively 

• Strong work ethic

• A self-motivator taking the initiative to look into details and propose efficient ways to improve the financials

Base pay range: $65,600 - $70,000/annually commensurate with experience
