Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Staff Accountant 1, we'll count on you to:

• Perform complex journal entry processing, cost allocations, monthly and annual financial reporting activities, and special projects in an accurate and timely manner
• Analyze new and existing joint venture agreements for accounting impact
• Represent Corporate Accounting in cross functional meetings where appropriate
• Support a proactive continual improvement culture within Corporate Accounting intended to refine internal processes and align with best practices using various tools and systems including process automation software
• Collaborate with teams and personnel throughout HDR to accomplish mutual objectives
• Support internal activities related to month end close and the preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, statutory, or internal management requirements
• Work cross functionally with Operations Accounting to research and resolve accounting issues, proposing process and system improvements where needed
• Organize and pull audit sample support within required deadlines
• Perform accounting research and assist in the documentation of conclusions on behalf of the company

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or similar field is highly preferred
• Must be self-motivated, well organized, and able to work well independently
• Ability to occasionally work outside of regular business hours to support time-sensitive close-related deadlines
• Experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities
• Comfortable producing and explaining financial statements
• Experience or ability to oversee and maintain processes completed by automation software such as Alteryx
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Positive attitude and willingness to take on challenging projects
• High proficiency in MS Office especially Excel and strong analytical skills is a must
• Previous experience with Alteryx, UiPath, Oracle EBS, and/or Hyperion is a plus but not required
• Previous experience with balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and foreign currency would be great, but is not necessary
• Preference given to local candidates
