Staff Accountant
Job Description
How you’ll make an impact:
The Staff Accountant serves as a key member of the finance team at Strata, reporting to the Accounting Manager. In this role, you will apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information; to prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports; and to facilitate efficient and accurate processing of accounting functions while ensuring adherence to company policies. Other responsibilities include:
- Records journal entries and performs general ledger balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist in the month-end closing and distribution of monthly financial statements, including completion/maintenance of monthly recurring journal entries and reconciling balance sheet accounts in detail.
- Develop and maintain the integrity of the financial reporting process and financial controls.
- Perform detailed financial statement analysis, including discussions on various issues, analysis, and preparation of account reconciliations.
- Prepare financial reports as part of month-end close process.
- Maintain source financial systems, including but not limited to, NetSuite, Concur, Oracle and Salesforce
- Assist with the business development team in contract and subscription billing.
- Work with various members of the Strata Decision team to resolve accounting-related issues.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Performs complex financial analysis to summarize organization financial position and recommends methods and procedures to improve accounting processes.
- Compile documentation for audit-related requests.
- Support Business Development team through maintenance and optimization of software pricing models and development of monthly sales reports.
- Assist with other special projects, as assigned.
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum 3 years experience in public accounting with GAAP experience
- Proficient use of MS Excel, including advanced topics such as pivot tables, v lookups and array formulas
- Highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data
- Strong analytical and problem resolution skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- A drive to learn quickly and constantly adapt to new challenges
- Strong self-motivation and the ability to work effectively with limited guidance when necessary

The preferred location for this role is in Chicago, IL or St. Louis, MO. We value our people spending time together and have campuses hosting in-person events located in both cities. Â
