Job Description

Franklin Associates is seeking an energetic, highly talented Staff Accountant for immediate employment in the firm's Baton Rouge, LA office. The ideal candidate will have a track record of superior execution and growth and will be responsible for preparing and reporting financial transactions, budgetary controls, tracking the organization's project-related liabilities, profit and loss, and other related financial activities. This position is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Analyze financial data, make recommendations as appropriate to improve accuracy, efficiency and to reduce costs
  • Prepare/coordinate daily financial and accounting tasks
  • Accounts Payable processing
  • Credit Card transaction entries
  • Review timesheets in preparation for payroll processing (making sure timesheets are approved/submitted)
  • Preparing time and expense backup for invoice submittals
  • Follow up with aged receivables
  • Assist as needed with preparation of annual financial reports
  • Prepare/analyze/maintain/report project budget data
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to thoroughly understand project budgets
  • Determine how changes to projects will affect budgets
  • Inspect project budgets to ensure metrics are met and expenditures are assigned correctly
  • Run project profitability reports, present to company leadership and Project Managers
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Proficient with accounting software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • At least two years of related experience required.
