Staff Accountant


SchoolMint is seeking a highly motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. The Staff Accountant will work on a team with diverse backgrounds, operating in a fast-paced, and team-oriented environment. The position will report to the Accounting Manager, support the overall operations of the accounting department and play a vital role in the month-end close process. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic, self-motivated, procedure and detail-oriented, hands-on individual with the ability to work independently and with a team.


Responsibilities:Β 

  • Ensure financial data integrity by reconciling data between multiple data sources
  • Review transactions to ensure transactions are recorded accurately and to the proper cost centers; analyze and research variances
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Maintain and update balance sheet reconciliation and supporting schedules such as bank, fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, insurance benefits, etc
  • Reconcile and file sales taxes
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close
  • Assist with the interim and annual audits
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

    • 2+ years of Accounting/Finance experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Business/Finance required
    • Solid grasp of US GAAP
    • Good Excel skills and experience with Google Sheets a plus
    • Strong analytical and communication (oral and written) skills
    • Strong organizational skills, attentive to detail, and ability to multi-task
    • Quick learner
    • Plus: SaaS experience
    • Plus: ASC606 and ASC842
    • Plus: Experience in Sage Intacct
    • Plus: Experience with Salesforce
    • Plus: Experience with Google Suite products
