Job Description

The Role: The Staff Accountant is an important position in the Controllership group which includes a variety of activities within the General Ledger, Payroll and Tax areas. This position will report to the Accounting Manager. 

Your Focus:

General Ledger 

• Process quarterly intercompany transactions 
• Prepare and distribute the monthly worldwide intercompany reconciliation 
• Prepare monthly journal entries 
• Prepare and submit US Government Census Surveys 
• Work on other finance projects that require technical knowledge, teamwork, problem solving and effective communication skills 
• Assist with banking administration, operations and relationships with domestic and international financial institutions 

Payroll 

• Create payroll files for processing using excel spreadsheets 
• Prepare and process check and EFT requests via Accounts Payable 
• Assist employees with ADP setup and password issues 
• Run various payroll related reports each payroll cycle 
• Review employee information during payroll processing 
• Answer employee questions related to compensation 
• Assist in quarterly RSU grants process 

Tax 

• Reconcile sales tax accounts and coordinate with outside service provider for indirect tax compliance (e.g., domestic sales and use taxes, Canadian HST/QST) 
• Prepare estimated payments, extensions, annual reports, property tax returns, and business licenses 
• Review, research and respond to tax notices 
• Provide support to federal and state income/franchise tax audits, sales and use tax audits, including responding to inquiries 
• Maintain tax department schedules 

Qualifications

Required experience and skills: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or University 
• At least two years of accounting experience 
• Audit experience preferred 
• Excellent computer skills: proficiency in MS Excel 
• Detail oriented with strong documentation skills 
• Well-developed analytical and research abilities with effective communications skills 
• High ethical standards 
• Able to work as part of a team and interact with all areas within MSTR 
• Highly organized, able to work on multiple projects and strive under pressure
