The Staff Accountant will be a member of the Core Office US Corporate team, focusing on maintaining the corporate books and records for our management company legal entities.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Significant involvement with Brookfield's Management Company, this will include exposure to Senior members of New York and each of Brookfield's Regional Finance teams. Will become familiar with our Fund and Investor Operating Agreements with the goal of correctly allocating Management Company charges to their appropriate legal entity
- Involved in the budget and planning process of Management Company expenses and will prepare the supporting calculation and journal entries to allocate expenses to various entities and properties
- Significant exposure to the intercompany process and it's role in the consolidation process
- Prepare wire transfer requests for BPY corporate entities
- Processing of invoice payments, as needed
- Prepare recurring journal entries for daily cash activity and work with treasury on corporate cash management,
- Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
- Maintain, track, and reconcile intercompany balances between the Management Company and Brookfield Regional Finance teams
- Coordinate monthly intracompany reconciliations to ensure all activity among ~90 BPY Corporate legal entities eliminates upon consolidation.
- Assist on routine and special projects as needed.
- Coordinate as needed with Brookfield regional teams located in Los Angeles, DC, Houston, Denver, and New York.
Your Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree; 1-2 years experience desired
- Pursuing CPA desired
- Experience with IFRS desired, but not required
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft excel, must feel confident working with large amounts of data
- Experience with Yardi and HFM desired
- Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to build relationships and work with professionals around the organization
- Flexible, able to work with changing priorities, meets deadlines, prioritizes, and works well independently
- Ability to handle a large volume of work with tight deadlines, and ad-hoc requests as required
- Team player with positive attitude and pro-active approach to work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask; attention to detail
- Desire to contribute to grow and develop skills and contribute to the success of the organization

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary Type: Exempt/Non-exempt
Pay Frequency: Bi-weekly
Annual Base Salary Range: $85,000-$100,000
Medical & Pharmacy Coverage: Yes, under Brookfield Medical Plan
Dental Coverage: Yes, under Brookfield Medical Plan
Vision Coverage: Yes, under Brookfield Medical Plan
Retirement: 401(k)
