About This Opportunity

Rachio seeks a Staff Accountant who is passionate about our mission, will establish themself as a resource for the entire company, and has a desire to understand our business and industry. As a Staff Accountant, you will report to the Controller and work closely with the Senior Staff Accountant. You will be responsible for regularly analyzing and reconciling information and, as part of the month end, close accounts such as A/R, A/P, and inventory. This role requires attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and basic accounting experience. You will have consistent daily work in addition to exposure to a broad range of other finance projects. You will work with employees from all departments, customers, suppliers, and vendors to learn the business. This position has tremendous room for growth within the organization. While this position is mostly remote, there will be occasional in-person interactions and travel required. You must live near the Denver/Boulder area and be able to commute to downtown Denver roughly 4 times per month in order to pick up items sent to our mailing address. 

What You’ll Do
  • Ensure timely and accurate coding and processing of invoices for on-time payments
  • Ensure prompt billing, collections, and cash application
  • Prepare monthly invoices for utility partners
  • Reconcile customer accounts and resolve disputes as a liaison between the customer and the Finance team
  • Process and apply cash receipts, and generate customer statements for D2C, Pro, and Utility customers
  • Work with D2C, Pro, and Utility customers to collect past due balances to minimize outstanding A/R
  • Communicate with vendors and customers via phone & email
  • Process bills from vendors, ensuring accurate coding and validity of expense
  • Perform weekly bill payments, ensuring bills are paid in a timely manner
  • Ensure timely coding and processing of employee expense reports, verifying compliance with company policy
  • Organization and reconciliation of company credit card reports through Expensify, flagging policy violations and working with department leads to gather required documentation
  • Ensure coding and processing of purchase requests, ensure timely receipt of purchase orders and review of open PO’s
  • Assist with monthly reconciliations of inventory to actual stock count
  • Learn the order processing and fulfillment process to provide support to the operations team as needed
  • Reconcile monthly/quarterly and annual sales tax returns in Avalara and manually file returns as needed
  • Prepare annual 1099’s
  • Document any key processes into living versions that are updated on an ongoing basis
  • Assist with ad hoc projects, models, and analysis as needed
What Makes You A Great Fit
  • 3+ years of accounting/staff accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or relevant experience
  • NetSuite, Bill.com, Expensify experience preferred
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure minimal error rate
  • Analytical with strong, demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking capabilities
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and collaboration skills
  • AR collection and vendor/AP management experience  - great people skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Google products (e.g., Excel & Google Sheets)
  • Strong organizational skills that drive fast & efficient execution
  • “Owner’s” attitude, including a willingness to tackle problems through to solutions and an ability to work both independently and across functions
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams such as operations, customer service sales, marketing/business development, and engineering/product development
Compensation
  • The salary range for this role is $55,000 - $70,000
  • Stock options

  • This is a remote position, must be based in the Denver/Boulder area
  • Travel expectations (Minimal - company offsite meetings, etc.) 
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the US
