Staff Accountant
Job Description
Position Summary
The Staff Accountant will be responsible in assisting with the accounting month-end close process, and provide GL support, financial analysis, and reporting processes for Offerpad. This role will prepare and post month end journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintain internal controls. This role will work directly with the Accounting Manager.
Essential Functions
- Accurately and efficiently enter accounting data into financial systems
- Record daily cash transactions
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities
- Analyze, verify and reconcile accounts
- May conduct financial audits.
- Review monthly variance analysis for discrepancies and trends
- Produce daily, weekly and monthly reports
- Support Accounting Manager
- Identify and proactively provide solutions for automation and process improvement
- Analyzes current accounting transactional flow and overall efficiency of the finance department and recommends changes for improvement.
- Ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and corporate policy and procedures.
- Perform other duties, as assigned
Experience and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2 years' experience in Accounting or Finance field
- Strong organization skills, accurate, and detail-oriented
- A working knowledge of the ins and outs to accounting and GAAP standards is highly desired.
- Strong work ethic, ability to learn quickly and adapt to change
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently to establish and manage work priorities, activities and timelines to achieve results
- Exhibits sound judgment and swift decision-making skills; strong attention to detail
- Ability to think creatively and come up with solutions
- Ability to critically review, summarize, and report findings and recommendations
- PC skills including working knowledge of the Microsoft environment and the ability to access, manipulate, organize and relay information in a meaningful way.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous real estate experience a plus
- CPA license preferred
- Oracle experience a plus
