The Staff Accountant provides analytical and costing support to corporate and plant leadership for manufacturing operations.

There are potential hazards associated with any chemical manufacturing business but at Helena Industries safety is our highest priority. We seek out extensive safety measures including engineered solutions and personal protective equipment and put them in place to minimize exposure to anything that could potentially be harmful to our employees.
The work environment for this position is that of a typical plant environment where the noise level is usually moderate to loud. In this position, you will regularly work near moving equipment/mechanical parts and could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
Lab and office positions at the plant would only have occasional exposure if they must go out into the plant.

The Staff Accountant provides analytical and costing support to corporate and plant leadership for manufacturing operations.
What your day may look like
- Performs and coordinates the month end process for the manufacturing plants which includes making accruals, coordinating journal entries with plants, running the costing process, transferring the OPM subledger to GL and generating P L's for each plant and the administrative areas in manufacturing.
- Maintains the OPM costing system.
- Performs costing setups and maintenance for the manufacturing costing process.
- Coordinates setups with other departments and plants as necessary.
- Audits the OPM costing system to validate the cost allocations.
- Performs reasonableness tests for the cost generated.
- Works with plants to transfer ownership of the cost data to the plant level.
- Works with plants to determine the factors which impact costs.
- Makes recommendations on product costs.
- Generates costing reports and analysis for products as required and at year end on all products.
- Audits OPM transactions at the plant level to detect errors or irregularities which could lead to financial variances.
- Learns and understands the OPM modules used at the plants to troubleshoot issues.
- Makes financial corrections when mistakes occur.
- Researches and assists to resolve any issues that have generated a financial variance for a plant that needs validation or explanation.
- Generates month end reports for manufacturing leadership including sales ranked by customer, summary and comparative financial data by plant and consolidated, productivity by headcount by plant, expense analysis for direct and indirect expenses, and ROIC calculations.
- Assists in consolidating and reporting monthly forecasts.
- Assists in the budgeting process for all plants.
- Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Education and experience needed for this position
- Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
Other skills that will help you succeed
- Computer skills including experience with Oracle, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is preferred.
- Specific experience in Oracle Process Manufacturing is preferred.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Sets priorities and works on multiple tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies, procedures and manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Speaks effectively before groups of customers and employees.
- Ability to travel to plant sites and other locations as necessary
