Staff Accountant
Job Description
JOB OVERVIEW
We are looking to hire a driven Accountant responsible for verifying, allocating, and reconciling accounts payable and receivable. The role’s responsibilities also include providing accounting reports, presenting their results, and analyzing financial information to summarize the company’s financial status.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Participate in the month-end close process, including but not limited to
- reconciling various balance sheet accounts, including accruals, fixed assets, debt, and various subledgers
- Reconcile the PEO prepared payroll JE for accuracy and departmental allocation
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries
- Will be responsible for supporting the finance department with owning multiple reports ensuring data integrity and accuracy
- Accounts Payable and Receivable
- Process vendor invoices in Bill.com, verify accuracy and coordinate payment processing in accordance with the Company accounting policies.
- Process expense reports in Expensify by synching with the current accounting system and capture all the expenses in the related month
- Process credit card transactions in Expensify and coordinate with the credit card holders for proper submission of the reports
- Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and reconciliation
- Monitor and resolve discrepancies related to billing and payments
- Act as the primary point of contact for all AP/AR
- Process day-to-day operating activities including cash management, responding to inquiries and supporting the team
- Provide support for ad hoc financial and analytic support to support management
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, ensuring compliance with the accounting standards and company policies
- Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities for streamlining accounting processes and implementing best practices
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of accounting systems and procedures
- Supporting the implementation of new ERP system and rigorous system testing when needed
- Financial reporting – assist in preparing financial statements
- Working on other internal projects and tasks as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a SaaS or technology company
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards
- Proficiency in accounting software (ERP experience preferred) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated the ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- A team player and collaborator
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 + Bonus + Stock Equity Option
