SBM Management is hiring a Staff Accountant for our corporate headquarters in Sacramento, CA. The Staff Accountant will perform a variety of duties such as reconciling the payroll records to the general ledger, review and assist with weekly, monthly, quarterly audits, and reconciling accounts. Responsible for periodic, quarterly, and annual Federal, State and Local tax compliance and reconciliation and submission to 3rd party tax system.
Responsibilities• Reconcile payroll transactions using various reports; Present an overview of activities, material changes and work with internal Business Partners and Payroll team to resolve out of balance conditions• Create and review all payroll labor, burden and disbursement journal entries and post to the general ledger• Assist in month-end close; prepare and reconcile manual payroll reports to the general ledger on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual basis• Enjoy working with figures and categorizing income and expenses for the business and government agencies• Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying information• Ability to research and respond to accounting related payroll variances with minimum supervision• Support financial accounting activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll data• Prepare and reconcile quarterly and annual filings and submit to 3rd party tax service• Assist with Year End reconciliation and W2s/W2cs as needed• Assist and reconcile IRS, State, and Workers Compensation audits• Assist with researching tax fall outs in the 3rd party tax system, register for Federal, Local, and State IDs and respond to related tax correspondence/invoices • Assist with managing tax software and test/implement new features and updates, assist with the quarterly and annual provisioning process
Qualifications
- BS degree in Accounting or 5+ year related experience in accounting and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to reconcile figures and amounts such as wages, taxes, and percentages. Ability to apply concepts and understanding of accounting reconciliation principles.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have full knowledge of all Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint). Preferably Advance Excel, VLookups and Pivot Table skill set. Payroll/ERP Systems: JD Edwards, Oracle, NetSuite, Ceridian.
- CPA or CPP a plus.
- Organization and multitasking abilities.
- Spanish speaking is a plus.
Available Shift: Full time
Compensation: $70,000-$75,000 per year
