Staff Accountant
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to manage general accounting and financial processes of our company. You'll be responsible for all daily accounting tasks, including preparing tax documents and updating expense files. You will perform financial transactions and post them in the general ledger, with strong attention to detail. You will also carry out relevant administrative duties. Ultimately, you will ensure the company's finances run smoothly. Must be of service to the business - providing insightful analyses that can be used by the leadership team to make decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES ACCOUNTABILITIES
The job responsibilities of our Staff Accountant include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for recording the day to day transactions of the accounting department (payables, cash receipts, etc.)
- Adheres to department deadlines and actively participates in the completion of the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes
- Examines transactions to ensure coding is accurate and consistent
- Enters monthly journal entries to record transactions, ensuring that journal entries have proper backup to substantiate the entry
- Performs monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
- Work with management and cross-functional departments to record transactions
- Understands and can effectively communicate the activity recorded in the general ledger
- Perform various ad-hoc requests as assigned
Required Experience / Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
- 2-5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience
- Attention to detail
- High proficiency in process orientation
- Analytical
- Must display initiative, flexibility, and the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Proven knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), job costing and cost control measures
- Interest and understanding of various software, apps and technology that create efficiency for the accounting world
- Excellent PC skills including advanced Excel (pivot tables, etc.)

Compensation: $50,000-80,000 commensurate with experience

This position is based in the Philly area; candidates must live in the area or be open to relocation. This is an on-site position that will report to the VP, Finance.
