Job description
Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant with a strong background in commercial real estate accounting to join our growing team. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting full-cycle accounting operations across a portfolio of commercial properties. Key duties include maintaining the general ledger, preparing journal entries, reconciling bank statements, supporting AP/AR functions, and contributing to monthly and year-end close processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage full-cycle accounts payable including invoice processing, coding, approval routing, and payment execution
• Review invoices for proper documentation, approval, and compliance with lease agreements and management contracts
• Maintain vendor files, W-9 forms, certificates of insurance, and ensure compliance with onboarding requirements
• Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies professionally and promptly
• Reconcile vendor statements and manage aging reports
• Work with property managers and construction teams to ensure invoice accuracy and alignment with budgets
• Assist with monthly accruals, prepaid schedules, and AP journal entries
• Support month-end and year-end close, including CAM reconciliations
• Coordinate documentation for internal and external audits
• Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives
• Assist with construction-related AP duties including lien waivers and, ideally, familiarity with AIA contract billing and draw schedules
Qualifications:
Required:
• 3+ years of AP experience in a commercial real estate or property management setting
• Proficient in Yardi and QuickBooks
• Strong knowledge of real estate accounting principles, including CAM reconciliations
• Detail-oriented with excellent communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred:
• Experience with construction accounting and AIA contracts
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Experience with multiple legal entities and property portfolios
Compensation & Benefits:
• Salary Range: $50,000 – $55,000 annually
