Description

JOB SUMMARY

This individual and individuals within their organization, analyze basic through complex transactions to support the development of GAAP compliant financial statements as well as support internal and external financial reporting, account analysis, generation and posting of more complex journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, validation and verification, and ad-hoc analysis. Additionally, position includes independent auditor interaction (preparation/review of PBC schedules and face/face communication), functioning as team lead and participation in system and growth initiatives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES BY COMPETENCY

Functional Expertise:

  • Reviews the recording of basic to complex transactions; determines and makes appropriate adjustments.
  • Participates in the review of complex general ledger account reconciliations; analyzes and researches outstanding items/issues.
  • Assists with the generation of standard and non-standard reports; analyzes data; tests for reasonableness.
  • Participates in special projects.
  • Coordinates the creation and maintenance of process and procedures documents.

  • Exhibits strong accounting and operational theoretical knowledge.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Certifications/Licenses:

Required:

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting
Or

  • Equivalent academic education and experience
Preferred:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Related Work Experience:

Required:

  • 4 - 10 years advanced accounting experience performing complex financial analysis and research.
(This posting is for one position at a level 4 Staff Accountant or level 5 Senior Accountant I and will depend on the successful applicant's experience level.)

Or

  • Equivalent academic education and experience.
Preferred:

  • Audit or cost accounting experience.
Applicant may possess a combination of equivalent education and work experience.

Specific Skills & Knowledge:

Required:

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Common ERP (e.g., PeopleSoft, Oracle, etc.) experience - intermediate proficiency.
  • MS Word - intermediate proficiency.
  • MS Excel - intermediate to advanced proficiency.
  • Strong organizational and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Team player and with the ability to work independently.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Travel Requirements:

  • The incumbent may be required to travel on a limited basis and trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.

  • Hybrid working environment with remote work 2 - 3 days per week.
