Job Description

We are looking for an SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting Staff to join our team. This represents an excellent opportunity for someone knowledgeable in accounting and proficient in building interpersonal relationships within and outside of their own department. Our team leads the coordination, preparation and publishing of all required SEC reports and filings, and owns the accounting for complex and technically challenging transactions. This role requires a motivated and detail-oriented individual who is capable of producing a high-quality work product and is comfortable working under deadlines. On a quarterly and annual basis this role will assist in the preparation of financial statements, footnotes and other content shared with the public, will be a key internal contact for the external auditors, and an internal resource for technical accounting topics. This team has high visibility within the accounting organization and within the company.

You will report to our Manager, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting.  This role has the option to be in-office (located in Bellevue, WA), fully remote, or hybrid.


You Will:

  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements,footnotes, and MD&A disclosures for required SEC reports and filings (10-Q’s, 10-K’s, 8-K’s, etc.) and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements
  • Assist in the preparation of subsidiary statement of cash flows on a monthly basis
  • Perform ad hoc accounting and financial reporting projects such as technical accounting and reporting research and application
  • Work with the external audit team to provide support and ensure that quarterly reviews and annual audits are on track
  • Tag financial data reported on forms 10-Q and 10-K using eXtensible Business Reporting Language (iXBRL)

You Have:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
  • CPA license or CPA eligible is preferred
  • 2+ years of experience, preferably in public accounting
  • General understanding of SEC reporting and GAAP
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Excel
  • Experience with Workiva and XBRL is preferred

Smartsheet provides a competitive range of compensation for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive bonus and RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: $75,600 to $110,700 | All other US States: $70,000 to $102,500
