The Scion Group seeks a Staff Attorney who will use their legal expertise and problem-solving skills to support the legal team and property management staff with day-to-day operations. This position will assist with developing, articulating and implementing legal and company policy at the corporate level. The Staff Attorney is accountable for providing world-class resolution and communication to a national portfolio of operating business units.
 Responsibilities
- Drafts, negotiates and reviews a variety of commercial contracts.
- Drafts and revises housing agreements, leases and other relevant real estate documents.
- Assists and advises Paralegals in the preparations of contracts and external communications.
- Responds to escalated resident complaints, attorneys and agencies, with respect to issues arising under State and Federal Fair Housing laws, rules and regulations.
- Responds to vendor and resident disputes.
- Coordinates with outside counsel on litigation matters.
- Coordinates with inside and outside counsel on entity and asset acquisitions.
- Performs legal due diligence analysis with respect to potential acquisitions and provides guidance.
- Continually conducts basic legal, statutory and regulatory research, staying current with laws and regulations.
- Analyzes, interprets and addresses company contracts and various compliance issues with lenders, partners and governmental bodies.
- Supports corporate governance, such as standards of practice and company operational policies.
- Coordinates real estate tax appeals.
- Monitors and assists in resolution of insurance claims.

Qualifications
- Law degree from an accredited university or law school, admission to the bar of at least one US State and 2-5 years of professional work experience, preferably within Multi-family housing.
- Fair Housing law experience is strongly preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Property Management Systems
- Works well with all levels of management.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; attentive to detail.
- Handles multiple, complex projects, with minimal guidance, prioritizes effectively, and meets deadlines.
- Works well independently and as a member of various teams.
