Staff Automation Engineer (Systems Engineer)
Job Description
Walmart Advanced Systems & Robotics is a fast-growing venture on a mission to reinvent retail through robotics. We’ve partnered with Walmart to develop our Alphabot® technology, which is currently being deployed at stores throughout North America.
- Develop system solutions for new and existing customers:
- Engage with customers to understand their processes and workflows.
- Analyze data to determine storage and throughput needs.
- Define system requirements and develop an effective solution(s).
- Prepare presentation material and lead internal and external workshops to communicate and evolve solutions.
- Work with the site engineering team to create system layouts of the solution and with the simulation group to verify system design.
- Work with other internal disciplines to define the schedule and cost of the proposed solution, develop proposal content with clearly defined requirements, high-level description of operations, the scope of supply and acceptance criterion.
- Develop ideas for continual improvement of current Alphabot product lines to improve the overall system.
- Advocate for the future direction of Alphabot System products.
- Contribute to continual improvement of customers’ methodologies, best practices, tools, and techniques for more effective system usage.
- Partner with Sales to develop and drive shared account goals/objectives aligned with the customer’s vision of success.
- Identify new application areas and work with Product Management to create compelling business cases to attract new customers.
- Experience in a cross-functional technical role.
- Data analytics capabilities and high competency with excel. Experience with databases preferred.
- Ability to identify, evaluate, and demonstrate solutions to complex problems.
- Cross-disciplinary engineering knowledge – some knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Comfort with a fast-paced environment.
- Expected to travel on occasion to customer sites (anticipated to be < 10%).
- Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision to achieve aggressive project goals.
- Familiarity with warehouse order fulfillment operations and/or automation is preferred but not required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related Engineering field or 3+ years of relevant work experience.
